1.Camping with preferred friends 😉
Pree (Priscilla) from Australia is engaged to Josh (congrats!) and she travels with her dad Paul. Josh does not like to camp. Pree explains in the truck: ‘45 days camping with Josh in Africa??? I do not think so. You do not have to throw me at the lions… I will volunteer and walk to the lions staring in their eyes….’
Pree (Priscilla) uit Australië is verloofd met Josh (proficiat!) en reist met haar vader Paul. Josh campeert niet graag. Pree verduidelijkt dat in de truck: ’45 dagen kamperen met Josh in Afrika??? Ik denk het niet. Je hoeft mij niet aan de leeuwen te voeren. Ik zal vrijwillig naar de leeuwen stappen – hun recht in de ogen kijkend….”
2.Hakuna Matate
Our tourleader Linda asks Cho from South Korea if he knows the song Hakuna Matate. Cho answers smiling: ‘Yes, yes, from the Walt Disney movie… The lion kill.’
Linda (reisleidster) vraagt aan Cho uit Zuid-Korea of hij het liedje ‘Hakuna Matate’ kent uit de film. Hij antwoordt breed glimlachend: ‘Jaja, uit de film van Walt Disney… The lion kill’.
3.Ayurveda therapy in India
During our trip on the truck we talk about our other adventures in the world. Robert explains he went to India to have a healing and purifying therapy in India: ‘After the purification I should get answers to all my questions.’ Very intrigued I asked him: ‘And did you get answers to your questions?’ ‘No, I got diarrhea for a week.’
Natuurlijk praten we tijdens onze reis op de truck met elkaar over onze andere avonturen in de wereld. Robert legt me uit dat hij een helende en zuiverende therapie in India heeft ervaren. Hij legt uit: ‘Na de zuivering zou ik antwoorden krijgen op al mijn vragen.‘ Heel nieuwsgierig vraag ik hem: ‘En heb je antwoorden gekregen?’ ‘Nee, ik kreeg diarree voor een hele week.’
4.Rain in Vic Falls?
Yaira sighed before we entered the park in Victoria Falls: ‘I do hope we will see some rainbows.’ Maud answered with surprise: ‘But then it should rain first!’
Voor we de watervallen van Victoria Falls bezochten, zuchtte Yaira: ‘Ik hoop écht dat we regenbogen zullen zien.’ Maud antwoordt verbaasd: ‘Maar dan moet het toch eerst regenen?’
5.Sweat till you cannot sweat no more
During our second part of our trip we received plastic mattresses to sleep on in our tent. The next morning Dirk woke up and sighed: ‘OMG, I sweated so much, you can wash the dishes with it!’
Halfweg onze trip kregen we andere – plastieken ! – matrasjes om op te slapen in onze tent. De volgende ochtend geeuwde Dirk en zuchtte: ‘
